Oatmeal-Apple Dog Cookies

Lil Doggie's favorite biscuit recipe from The Good Food Cookbook for Dogs by Donna Twichell Roberts!

4 cups whole-wheat flour

2 cups old-fashioned oatmeal

1-1/4 cups water

1/4 cup minced apple

3 Tbsp ground cinnamon

2 Tbsp vegetable oil

2 Tbsp honey

1 Tbsp ground cloves

1.  Heat oven to 325-degrees F.  Place all ingredients in a large bowl.  Mix thoroughly until combined to form dough.

~ Tip from My Mom:  Spoon in oil and then honey so that honey pours easily from spoon.

2.  Roll out dough on floured surface to about 1/4-inch thick.  Using a cookie cutter, cut into bone shapes.  Combine dough scraps; continue to roll out and cut into shapes until all dough has been used.

3.  Place cookies on ungreased foil-lined baking sheets.  Bake 30 to 35 minutes.

Makes 5 to 6 dozen cookies.

Note: Lil Doggie didn't mind that his cookies were not in "bone" shapes.  He was perfectly satisfied with stars, circles, snowman, and other shapes.
